Venice is more than gondolas navigating the channels! After spending the night in Milan, we headed to Venice in a luxurious high-speed train, Frecciarossa. We stayed in Mestre, which is a mile from Venice. It was not hard to get to Venice. The train and the bus stop just in front of the hotel. After dropping off our backpacks at the hotel, we went to explore the famous City of Venice.
Venice is one of the most unique and beautiful places on the planet. Like the title of the blog said, Venice is more than gondolas. Venice is also about architecture. The design is simply amazing. After you visit the city, you think about how this thing has been here for so long. Everywhere that you look, there is beauty. We walked for hours without getting tired. At sunset, we went to Piazza San Marcos to admire the sunset. Piazza San Marcos is one of the most romantic places that I have ever been to in my life. I do not know how to explain it; it just feels that way.
In the early evening, we went to see the Rialto Bridge. It is a structure with a lot of history, as it is the oldest bridge over the Gran Canal. We ended the night with dinner next to the canal. If you watch movies about Venice, you’ll see a lot of gondolas, but in real life, there are more motor boats than anything else. Venice has public transportation like any other city. It also has boats that travel around different Islands, like Murano and Burano. Venice is a place that should be on everybody’s bucket list.
